-- Pitot Tube


The original pitot tube, shown above, was pretty crummy. But, I wanted to use the original intake part. 


George Evans was able to machine an end cap which would accept the original pitot/static tubes. 


Made from a billet of aluminum, he added a nice rounded tip to it. 


Welded up a new bracket which the pitot tube slides into. The oval slots in the pitot tube and in the bracket are matched and are used for the pitot/static lines to pass through. The bracket screws to the spar. The original bracket was available and used as a pattern/guide for fabrication. 

The finished product works very well. I calibrated my airspeed using a water manometer.
